Discount Travel
Tuesday the 17th 2007f April 2007 at 22 :41 : 12 PM

Many people are always looking for discounted travel options be it from hotels, air lines or travel agents. The truth is most of these people are last minute bookers and will thus not enjoy the benefit of time. Why do I say this, most airlines, hotels, lodges etc have high season and low season. During the low season prices fall fairly low sometimes almost half price. e.g. most people do not like to travel on Christmas dayWalking, but did you know that on this day most airlines will give you a huge discount since they have very few passengers. However in hotels this is a time when prices are at the highest. In Kenya the low seasons for hotels and lodges is April and May it is also the rainy season. Hotels and lodges will offer discounts in March, September and November are also fairly low season for airlines. These are dry months and good for travel. June is a not so crowded month in hotels and lodges but it is a peak season for for airlines and a passenger should have booked months in advance to travel in June. The months of July August, October, December, January and February are fairly dry months in Eastern Africa this is peak season for hotels and lodges since the Kenyan residents also enjoy a couple of holiday breaks and are competing for the same bed space as tourists.

My advice is plan a year in advance for your holiday to enjoy considerable discounts as you will have time to book during the off-peak seasons. You will also have ample time to plan time off during work and school if there are children you will be traveling with

Free holiday
Saturday the 14th 2007f April 2007 at 10 :07 : 10 AM

Last year i got my family a free holiday and spent it at a luxurious Kilifi Hotel on the North Coast of Mombasa for the 2nd time running and wondered weather there are people out there looking for a free holiday just like me. This is how it happened, a time share holiday sales person approached me while i was fueling my car and asked me to fill up a form and i could win a holiday. Of course why not i thought anybody would like a free holiday. And sure enough i was called the following day to claim my free holiday. The catch i had to attend a one hour sales speech at their offices. I thus put everything aside and decided to go for the talk. It turned out it was a whole seminar that would end past midnight trying to convince us to venture into a time share holiday deal. We like most people could not afford the premiums but i walked away with the free holiday package. And now whenever one of those sales men passes buy asking me to fill up a coupon i do so with enthusiasm. I always dread the extra long sales drama that may follow but it's a small price to pay for the free holiday. Indeed nothing is fully free.

Animals in Kenya: Only seen on the Safari
Tuesday the 10th 2007f April 2007 at 06 :05 : 07 AM

Last night i had been stuck on the road from the maasai mara ,the notoriously bumpy road. We had just passed Narok and were heading to Suswa town when the traffic jam was overwhelming. I had never imagined there could be heavy traffic in the bush. It was easter and a lot of people decided to take time off and venture into the wild. Lots of trucks ferrying tourists to and from mara were stuck to. It had rained and the usually dusty road was reduced to mud. We eventually got out of the chaos after a couple of hours. The fun was worth the pain. Next time you travel to Africa do not track time to carefully you never know what to expect.
