family holiday
Sunday the 6th 2007f May 2007 at 10 :15 : 25 AM
During most school holidays many families take this opportunity to have time out with their families. As a great supporter of family enrichment opportunities I do this all the time. Last night we had the opportunity to go to one of the classy restaurants in Nairobi- "Palacina". We had been fore warned that the foot was going to cost an arm-and-two-legs. when we got there we struggled to get parking. Getting in i noticed the ambiance was very African and cozy. The colours were natural and the lighting was great there was even a fire place just in-case the weather was chilly. After having a look at the menu i confirmed it was indeed costing an-arm and-two-legs. We got something anyway t-bone steak with rice and chips for the children. We looked the odd couple around with children but soon enough another couple with two children and expecting a third walked by and found a place next to us. This scenario always fills my heart with joy as it is very easy for parents to be out and enjoy in Kenya since nannies are easily available. But to choose to go out with the children requires patience and of course a decent size wallet which many do not have so it is real sacrifice. The food was nothing to right home about considering the price, but you know what that did not matter I told my hubby as for all one cares the children will only remember the happy event of going out at night and seeing the neon lights of Nairobi and a fire place where they could warm themselves with there parents around.
