Nile Cruise

According to Vaishnavi Ram Mohan he says that egypt is not the pyraminds and the Sphinx only. There is another side to the ancient land one without which yur trip is definatley incomplete. that is southern town of Aswan, from where the world famous Nile Cruise sometimes start and mostly end through out the year. The three night and four day cruise begins at Aswan around noon, giving enough time to see the unfinished obelisk of Queen Hatshepshut one of the oldest monuments in history and the Aswan High Dam.  The luxury cruise liners are equiped with a disco, gym and health room, swimming pool, top deck tea room, pool table a games room over 50 suites and a great restaurant. It is the perfect floating hotel. This reminds me when as a child i had the opportunity to visit the largest floating library that had docked at the port of Mombasa(floatila). Some of the ancient Egyptian sites can be viewed from the liner. including the Temple of Kom- Ombo (a must see) it looks like a mass of ruins from afar and has an extremely fascinating history. They say it was dedicated to Horus and symbolized the fight between Sobek (evil god) and Horus (good god). Sobek used to send his evil army of vicious man eating crocodiles to devour innocent people living around the area.Desparate, the people prayed to horus and begged him to save them. Horus assumed the form of an eagle to fight Sobek in his crocodile . after a long and terrible battle, horus defeated and killed Sobek.  (Daily Nation Mar 9/07)
