Christmas in Kenya

Christmas time in Kenya finds most people on a holiday mood. Schools usually close early that is in November and many people opt to take their vacations during this season. Many people will travel upcountry to be with their families and relatives. It is also the same time people will spend on holidays especially at the coastal town of Mombasa. As kenya elepahnta visitor to Kenya it is good to know that during this time bed space occupancy is at 100% hence prices are very high and it can get quite crowded. Also prices of most essential services are high especially transport.. The weather on the other hand is very warm and sunny and continues this way up to March. January is a bit less crowded and prices will start to come down as Kenyans start to focus on getting back to work and starting of the new school year. Most Kenya's prefer to slaughter a goat of chicken at home and prepare "Nyama Choma", make "chapatis", buy new clothes and go to church. The well educated or more exposed on the trends of the western society may consider getting a Christmas tree to celebrate the occasion. Take trip to Kenya during Christmas this year and enjoy a cultural Safari to an Akamba village and see how Christmas is celebrated here.
