SAFARI NEWS FROM DAVID LIVINGSTONE SAFARI RESORT MASAI MARA
AIRSTRIP
We are pleased to announce that major rehabilitation works on our airstrip have started since 20th June and completion is expected by 30th June. The airstrip will now be the longest in the
Masai Mara with a complete all weather surface. Over 6.8 millions kilos or 680 trucks of new coarse murram has been brought in to completely resurface the airstrip. Extremely heavy machinery is working on the strip which will now become 1495 m long from the standard of 1200 mts. As soon as this is completed, we will be able to land Buffallo fighter planes in the Mara which means that most planes including a Dash 8 will easily land at David Livingstone.
We are positive that Air Kenya will make a concious decision of landing at Livingstone Airstrip as soon as the works are completed. Fly 540 will also land at Livingstone Airstrip as of 15th July both on their Mombasa Malindi Mara Service as well as their Nairobi Service. Mombasa Air and Bluesky will also be landing daily at Livingstone Airstrip.
ROADS
Finally after a lot of hard work, the Ministry of Public Works, the Narok County Council and the Kenya Roads board have put in heavy machinery in the area. The new road will make travel by minibus to David Livingstone the fastest from Nairobi as drivers will no longer have to use the Mulot Toll Road. The Road will branch off on the left 32 kilomtres from Narok at the Ngore Ngore Lemek Junction and guests will have an easy 60 minute ride from Narok to Livingstone.
