Kitale Nature Conservancy is a unique privately owned sanctuary established purposely for: - Biodiversity conservation, educational tours, M.I.C.E, leisure, camping, bird watching, sports tourism and soft adventure tourism.
Kitale Nature conservancy is situated 4 Km from Kitale town on your way to Kapenguria town, the Conservancy is a unique well known tourist hotspot in North Rift and western Kenya tourist circuit. A recent data shows that the park receives over one thousand tourists monthly both local and international.
Bird watching
The park is lucky to have a diverse overlapping ecosystem ranging from wetland, riparian vegetation, thick forest, grass land and open waters , hence making it a bird watchers paradise with birds of different habitats being readily seen and at a close range distance, rare birds species e.g. the paradise fly catcher, the white crested turaco ,the grey crown crane and to name just but a few are common birds at KNC.
The magnificent quiet nature trail meanders all through these habitats thus enables the birders to maneuver easily when looking for a clear glance of the birds.
Camping
Our campsite is located along a quiet river sabwani whose origin is Mt Elgon . The river with its beautiful vegetations gives our campsite a great frontage with campers having a real feel of undisturbed nature. The playfield being adjacent to the campsite, Campers will have a chance enjoying playing out door games which includes football, volleyball, tag of war tanicoit , river crossing using ropes and many others. Dinner is served in our restaurant or you can choose to have it served in the bush in a modern setting and style.
Leisure
For the leisure lovers you can choose to walk or run along our breath taking and magnificent nature trail located inside a gallery forest, the trail lies along river sabwani with flyover bridges crisscrossing the river hence giving you a spectacular view of the whole conservancy and a feel of undisturbed nature. Boat riding competition in the river or at our dam is also an activity you can’t afford to miss or just go for sports fishing on either of the two places.
Our gorgeous picnic sites located along the river and some adjacent to the play field with natural seats are a thing you will never forget.
Game viewing
Game viewing forms part of your visit and here you will have a chance of coming in to contact with the rare sitatunga antelope, the endangered Debrazzas monkey, the Elands ,ostrich, Bush backs, serval cat,otter,black duikers and many others.
All in all you can choose to relax in our bar or at the balcony for a drink with a spectacular view of the botanical garden which has over 800 species of indigenous medicinal and rare plants species.
Educational Tour
For the educationist, environmentalist and researcher we start with showing you a videolized presentation of the whole park, hence giving you a vivid overview of what awaits you in the field. The rich research ground with artistic models explaining e.g. wet land conservation, Global warming and ozone layer depletion is a tip of the ice berg , and in the field there are have over 40 genetically advantaged and disadvantaged animals eg a bull with three eyes and four horns, a cow with five limbs, a sheep with six legs, goats with three legs, hermaphrodites and many others, and in the botanical garden we have planted over 800 indigenous, medicinal and rare plants species collected from all ecological zones of Kenya
