Kenyatta Day
Falls on the 20th of October annually, a day honouring Jomo Kenyatta, the first president of our nation. on this day 1952, he was sent to detention in Kapenguria, along with five other freedom fighters. Their only crime was their collective call for a nation where the Africans, who were subjected to severe discrimination, would rega

in their freedom. Together they came to be known as the Kapenguria six and each one played a significant role in the journey to independence and the freedom that Kenya enjoys today. Upon there release in 1957, Kenyatta went to become Kenya's first and only prime minister and upon becoming a republic on 12 December he went on to become the first president of Kenya.
